The First Romanian Surgeon Woman – Marta Trancu-Rainer (Iasi county, 1875 - Bucuresti, 1950), graduated the university in Iasi, at the Faculty of Medicine. During the First World War, she saved hundreds of lives as a surgeon and she was a member of the Romanian Academy of Medicine (1935) and an honorary member of the Biology Society in Bucharest.
