Byzantine Music Festival in Iași is the largest festival of its kind in Romania. For six days, the capital of Byzantine singing will be in Iași, where some of the most famous performers of Byzantine musical art will give high-class concerts and take part in various liturgical moments.
The event is meant to promote the original traditions of Byzantine singing, but also to inform the public about the connection that exists between church music and secular Byzantine music, the so-called “church tent” music.
Over hundreds of years, Moldova has maintained the spirit of Byzantium, the former heart of Orthodoxy, and the city of Iasi has become one of the largest cultural-musical centers of the Byzantine tradition.
Come and listen to performers specializing in different branches of this musical genre from Greece, Lebanon, Serbia and Romania.
